A New Gearbox, Produced by Daimler, at the Sebeș Facility
Star Assembly in Sebeș, Daimler’s subsidiary in Romania, launched the new 8G-DCT dual-clutch automatic transmission with eight gears. Continuing a collaboration of over six years with Daimler, we organized the inaugural event, where the gearbox was presented to the Romanian public in connection with the diesel engines powering the new Mercedes-Benz B-Class model.
The event took place at the Sebeș facility in early 2019, within the two new production halls, covering approximately 54,000 m², and was a great success. Event guests participated in a drive test and toured the assembly hall for the 8G-DCT gearboxes. During the event, they learned about Daimler’s plans in Romania, as shared by the General Director of Star Transmission and Star Assembly, Klaus Eichhorn, and the Production Director of Powertrain Mercedes-Benz Cars, Frank Deiss.
The biggest challenge of the event was creating an event identity that matched the significance of the moment, aligned with the parent brands, Star Assembly and Star Transmission, while maintaining the innovative spirit of the automotive parent company.
The launch event for the new gearbox generated around 250 media appearances, including reports in specialized, business, and general media outlets, such as TV reports, radio shows, blog articles, and social media.
